Russell Family · Harmony's Doctor
Dr. Eve Russell
Harmony's most respected physician, devoted wife, and mother of two. She also has a past with Julian Crane that she has worked extremely hard to bury. The Gazette notes the past is not staying buried.
Active · Harmony HospitalPresent Situation
Dr. Eve Russell is, at press time, Harmony's most respected physician, wife of T.C. Russell, and mother of Whitney and Simone. She is also actively managing an extensive secret: a 1970s relationship with Julian Crane that produced a child, a period of drug and alcohol dependency, and a past she has represented to T.C. as nonexistent.
A young man named Chad Harris has recently arrived in Harmony. Eve's response to him has been notably tense. The Gazette is watching this.
Background
Eve Johnson grew up in a privileged family, though she would later represent herself to T.C. as having been raised by two maiden aunts after the death of her parents. The truth: she was a young jazz singer in Boston who fell in love with Julian Crane, who was responsible for introducing her to drugs and alcohol. She became pregnant. Alistair Crane intervened, ordered Julian to marry Ivy Winthrop, and sent money to Eve to keep her away from Julian and from the Cranes. Their child was apparently lost shortly after birth.
Eve subsequently got clean, attended medical school, married T.C. Russell, and built a life designed to contain no trace of her previous one. She has been careful. She has not been careful enough.
The Julian Connection
Eve and Julian Crane have a history that T.C. Russell does not know about. Eve has used her knowledge of Ivy Crane's behaviour to ensure Ivy does not reveal this history, and has been blackmailed in turn. The situation is, as of press time, in a state of managed fragility. The Gazette expects it to become unmanaged shortly.
Julian, who never stopped loving Eve, is aware of her presence in Harmony. Eve is aware of his. Their interactions, when forced, are carried out with the precision of people who are managing something enormous.
T.C. and the Russell Family
T.C. Russell is, by any observable measure, devoted to Eve and their daughters. He is also characterised by a fiery temper and a bitter hatred of Julian Crane, whom he holds responsible for the car accident that ended his tennis career. The Gazette notes that Eve was the one driving that car, a fact T.C. does not yet know.
Whitney and Simone are both unaware of their mother's history. Whitney is pursuing a tennis career under T.C.'s demanding instruction. Simone is in love with Chad Harris, the young man whose arrival has made Eve visibly tense. The Gazette is tracking all of this.
