Ethan, attempting to reason with Theresa, used the adjoining door between their rooms to get inside. Theresa, in the process of whatever she was doing, accidentally knocked him out. The Gazette notes that Theresa has now, in the course of this arc, eaten legal documents, donated tens of millions of dollars of money that was not hers, been evicted from a mansion she was never legally entitled to, and knocked out the man she loves by accident during a standoff with his stepfather. The Gazette also notes that Alistair specifically engineered Bermuda Bruce's disclosure as revenge for everything Theresa did to the Crane family. The weapon was always there. Alistair simply waited for the optimal moment to use it.

Beth stole drugs from the hospital required for her next plan against Sheridan. Someone caught her in the act: Charlie, a new character who arrived by bursting into Beth's kitchen. Charlie confronted Beth about the hospital theft. Beth talked her way out of it. Mrs. Wallace, watching all of this and apparently concluding that Charlie's arrival represented an opportunity, began to tell Charlie about Beth's lethal plans. Beth intervened and tried to talk her way out of that too.

Charlie is now Beth's accomplice. This is not what Mrs. Wallace intended her disclosure to produce. Charlie's first substantive contribution to the operation was to propose killing Luis. Beth is shocked by this idea but is rethinking her plan in light of it. Mrs. Wallace warned Beth that if Charlie kills Luis, Luis will learn the truth about everything. Beth is certain she can control Charlie. The Gazette notes that Beth has been certain she could control her mother for twenty-two issues and has not succeeded, and that Charlie, within days of arrival, has already suggested murdering a police officer, which is a considerably higher baseline of operational ambition than Mrs. Wallace has ever displayed.

Charlie subsequently cornered Sheridan alone at the wharf and prepared to kill her. Sheridan had fled the cottage during the night following nightmares, with Antonio searching desperately for her alongside Hank. Luis vowed to kill anyone who hurts Sheridan. The Gazette notes that Luis is unaware of the full catalogue of people who have already tried.

Reese and Jessica had a tiff. In the resulting chaos, Charity and Miguel realised they will never love anyone but each other and shared a reunion. Kay watched. Kay is not handling this well. Tabitha, Simone, and Kay subsequently used Tabitha's bowl to watch Chad and Whitney making love at the recording school, and launched a plan to have TC discover them. Kay used magic to assist Tabitha with her ongoing pregnancy symptoms. The Gazette notes that the bowl is functioning as both a surveillance device and a planning tool, and that Kay is now a competent enough practitioner to use it.

Rebecca brought Julian to the Blue Note. A waiter informed her that Julian comes to the club often, and always waits for someone who never shows up. Julian dreams of the past while Rebecca tries to understand what is happening. The Gazette notes that Julian Crane, a man who has survived a tuna vat, a fake death, a Bermuda disguise, a swingers resort, a chicken truck, a wrestling arena, and half a Martimmy, has been going to a jazz club alone, on a regular basis, to wait for a woman who does not come. Eve, distracted by worry over Liz using her absence to move on TC, got into a car accident with Julian. They ended up at a roadside diner. Eve told Julian about the fight with TC and about the hatred that has developed between Whitney and Simone. Julian blamed himself for leading Eve into the life that almost destroyed her, he is referring to their past relationship and what followed from it. Julian then opened his heart to her. Eve was stunned and skeptical. Julian vowed not to let anyone hurt her. He said he would like to be friends. Eve was not certain whether to believe him.

At the diner, they also speculated about who Chad's parents are. Julian admitted he has hired a private investigator to find their son. The Gazette files this and notes that Julian's hiring of a private eye to locate a child he believes may be his, in a conversation at a diner after a car accident, while his wife waits at the Blue Note in confusion about his feelings, is either the most romantic or the most complicated thing Julian has done this season. The Gazette believes it is both.

Liz, learning from someone that Eve and Julian were together after the accident, informed TC. TC was given the information in a framing designed to maximise his alarm. Liz snooped through TC's shed and TC subsequently decided to let her in on whatever his shed secret contains. Sam told Ivy he would like her to move back to the Crane mansion. Ivy's response to this suggestion is not documented but the Gazette notes she has not left. Grace told David he needs to sign the annulment papers. David told Ivy he has had enough and wants out of the conspiracy. Ivy told him to do whatever he wants, as long as he lets her go forward without him. Eve stood up to TC's sustained campaign of blame, told him it is his fault Whitney left because he never allowed her a normal teenage relationship, and found him in an improved position emotionally when she returned, improved, in part, because Liz had been there while Eve was not. All the while, Liz gloats. The Gazette notes this as the consistent operational description of Liz's role in any given scene: she is a comforting ear for TC when he laments his marriage, and she is gloating while she does it.

Liz took Whitney to the Blue Note and encouraged her to pursue her passion for singing, knowing this would unnerve Eve. Whitney sang. Fox, watching, was enchanted. Eve, learning where Liz had taken her daughter, rushed to the club and was horrified to find Whitney performing in public. Eve rushed the stage and blasted Whitney for degrading herself. Whitney asked why her mother was freaking out. Liz taunted Eve about Whitney following in her mother's sordid footsteps. The Gazette notes that Eve's reaction — running onto a stage to stop her daughter from singing at a jazz club — is, from Whitney's perspective, inexplicable, and that Eve cannot explain it without disclosing the past she has been concealing. Liz has constructed a situation in which Eve can only protect Whitney by destroying herself. The bombshell remains undetonated. Eve is running out of room.
